Recruitment

Trainee Solicitor or Paralegal – Private Client

Russel + Aitken (Falkirk + Alloa) Limited is a well-established family firm of solicitors with offices in Falkirk and Alloa with a significant and growing client base within the central belt.  We specialise in all aspects of Private Client, Residential Conveyancing, Civil and Criminal Court, priding ourselves in offering a depth of experience within these practice areas to our clients. We are a firm very in tune with modern working practices and we are committed to providing a pleasant working environment to our employees whilst delivering legal services of the highest quality to our clients.

This role is full time position suitable for either a candidate with considerable level of administrative experience with a strong background in Private Client work who wants to take the next step in their legal career or a candidate who has completed their diploma in legal practice in 2026. This a single seat traineeship within our Private Client Department and will involve a range of work including preparation of wills, powers of attorney, trusts and the administration of executry estates. There will also be limited exposure to elements of Residential Conveyancing that tie in with the work carried out within the Private Client Department such as transfers of title and evacuations of survivorship destinations.

As a trainee paralegal or solicitor, you’ll have the opportunity to work closely with clients from the outset, under the guidance of experienced colleagues. As you progress through your training/traineeship, you’ll begin to take ownership of your own caseload, building your expertise and confidence in the field. This work will be rewarding and will provide a strong foundation for your legal career.

Candidates will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a keen eye for detail. The nature of the role requires the ability to demonstrate empathy whilst being professional at all times and retaining the ability to extract key information from clients who can often be in an emotional frame of mind.  We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate a keen interest in Private Client work.

For trainee paralegals, previous private client experience is essential and for trainee solicitors an LLB and Diploma in Legal Practice are a pre-requisite for this post.

All candidates should also be able to develop a strong commercial awareness.

We fully believe in a positive work life balance and an inclusive and friendly working environment. Candidates will form part of an already established, effective, hard working and welcoming team that will ease them into the  throes of a career in the legal profession.

Trainee salaries will be paid in line with the current recommended rates set by the Law Society of Scotland. Trainee paralegal salaries will be based on previous experience.

If you have the required experience and would like to take your career to the next step, please send your CV and cover letter to marcconvery@randa-fa.co.uk.

We will only consider direct applications so no agencies please.
